A New Zealand native, designer Emma Ferioli comes from a long line of artists and makers. She spent her childhood learning handicrafts from her mother and grandmother. When she embarked on a career as an anti-trust lawyer in Belgium, it was this hands-on experience of creating that she missed. After moving to the United States, she decided to listen to that longing and began spinning, weaving and designing.
When it was suggested to Emma that she try producing some of her existing designs in leather, she balked at the idea. And then she tried it anyways - and her eponymous line was born.
Emma’s designs are inspired by items that she personally has a need for. She cuts and sews each piece by hand at her studio in South Berwick, Maine. Made from soft, full grain leather, her styles are both sturdy and polished at the same time.
